D. & H. Scovil Hoe Post Civil War to the Late 19th Century

On Sunday, March 24 at 2 pm at the Haddam Town Hall, 21 Field Park Drive, Haddam, the story of D. H. Scovil will continue with a talk by Higganum native, Lindamae Peck and hosted by the Haddam Historical Society. This will be the fourth in a series of talks by Lindamae as she meticulously researches the company’s ledgers, day books, journals and other important documents donated to the society in 2016. This talk will focus on the firm’s recovery after the Civil War, which had severely curtailed the sale of hoes to the southern states to under a few 1000s, leading to the sale of over 350,000 hoes in 1890.

The program is free for Historical Society members and $5 for non-members.
