The 1772 Foundation in cooperation with Preservation Connecticut has awarded the Haddam Historical Society/Thankful Arnold House Museum a Connecticut Historic Preservation Matching Grant in the amount of $2500, to assist the organization with repairing the brick center chimney. This program is a collaborative historic preservation technical assistance program of Preservation Connecticut and the 1772 Foundation.
The project will consist of repairing and repointing the brick center chimney in order to stop water infiltration and interior damage. The Arnold House Museum is an exemplary example of a late 19th century center chimney dwelling that features many original architectural elements. This work will ensure the long term viability of the building.
